Earth Hour

Earth Hour 2008

My Mom and I reached a compromise: She'd watch TV or go on her computer and leave all other appliances turned off while I broke out my candles and (attempted to) meditate.

Course, most of my street didn't participate, and turning off street lights were out of the question due to safety issues, so stargazing wasn't exactly the best plan I could've made xD

It was fun, nonetheless.

Haha, I usually have problems meditating as well.
It's rough with a 5 person household and a german shepherd that doesn't seem to want to shut up.
I find that it's a bit easier if you get some comfy headphones (I used to have this awesome set of the cushy studio headphones, the dog ate them), and put on some calming music (Enya is a favorite for me, no idea why).

The title of your post is "Earth Hour," was that just about turning off the appliances and all that, or what? :)

Thanks for the tips! Heh, I guess I'm luckier since my household has 3 people and our pets are happily swimming in a tank downstairs. I haven't heard of Enya's stuff, but I'll look into them soon.

"Earth Hour" is this global event to raise awareness about energy conservation and climate change. The goal is, for one hour, to leave all lights and appliances off. A lot of cities participated here in Canada, but I'm not sure about things in America. Maybe you could pitch it to your school next year?

Haha, well, I'll be at University next year.
I'll see if I can post it on a school forum or something, as I somehow think that fliers would be counterproductive :p
